Reproductive genomics female infertility clinic
Female mice (G3) that fail to become pregnant by natural mating undergo several clinical tests to characterize their infertility phenotype. Mice that enter the clinic are bled for serum hormone analysis and their reproductive tracts are assessed for gross abnormalities.
One ovary is fixed for histology to examine follicle and oocyte morphology while the other is finely dissected to remove oocytes for in-vitro maturation. Oocytes that undergo germinal vesicle breakdown during maturation are fertilized and cultured in-vitro to determine their competence for 2-cell and blastocyst development.
