Reproductive genomics male infertility clinic
Male mice (G3) that fail to impregnate wild-type females undergo several clinical tests to characterize their infertility phenotype.
Gross anatomy of the mouse is observed and its organ weights are assessed. One epididymis is dissected for sperm recovery and the remaining epididymis prepared for histological evaluation. Recovered sperm are subjected to an andrological evaluation that includes sperm count and morphology assessment. Testes are prepared for histology.
To evaluate fertilization potential, sperm motility is assessed. In addition, the sperm are used for in-vitro fertilization of wild-type oocytes to determine their competence for development of 2-cell and blastocyst stage embryos.
