Necropsy Services

The Necropsy Lab is equipped with four state-of-the-art ventilated necropsy tables and two ventilated racks for temporary housing of mouse shipping containers and cages.

JAX faculty and researchers can schedule time to carry out their own necropsies or they may request, as a fee for service, that the Necropsy Lab conduct necropsies and tissue collection for them.

Training is also provided to JAX researchers and who wish to learn to perform their own necropsies. In addition to necropsies and tissue collection for histological processing, the Necropsy Lab can collect samples for PCR and microbiology cultures and blood for hematology, chemistry, and serological analysis. ​
